In 2003 I started thinking about having one dog that didn't need grooming. I researched
several short haired breeds in every group except working & toys. Our Siberian, Aurora, is a
VERY good Sibie. She doesn't run away, she doesn't climb fences to escape, doesn't
destroy things. So, I eliminated sight hounds figuring they could teach Aurora bad habits.
I worked for professional handlers, Linda & Eliot More, back in the mid 1980's. We had
Pointers and Vizslas and these were the two breeds I had narrowed my choices to. I
e-mailed Linda to ask for her opinion. She wrote back and said, "Get a Vizsla. Contact Ida
Kavafian and tell her I sent you." So you see it was quite easy for me to decide where to go.
Thank you Linda More!
Ida & I met in person at the AKC/Eukanuba Classic in December 2003 at Long Beach, CA.
I was able to meet Ch. Opus One Lady Sang the Blues, aka Billie. And Ida got to know me
and meet Ch. Kyllburgs Argos the Watchman. She found out our Komondors are civilized
and I was added to Billie's future puppy waiting list.
June 11, 2004 Billie whelped four puppies. And in August 2004 I received an unexpected
call from Ida asking if I was still interested in a puppy. Of course I said, "YES!" As luck
would have it, Ida was passing through Colorado Springs the same day I had my PRK
laser eye surgery at the Air Force Academy. It must have been fate.
We finished Diva in October 2005. She has many Best of Breed wins. Somehow her little
sister was ready to join our family. And in November 2005 little baby Kleio joined us. She is
Opus One Kyllburg's Kleio and she has fit in wonderfully with the rest of the Kyllburg Gang.
We are proud to have our first Vizsla litter on the ground! Whelped 4th of July 2007, all 6
puppies are girls. Rockie & Zsa Zsa are both pointed. And Rockie has a puppy group 1 &
a Best in Sweeps win all before she was 8 months old!
Our Vizslas are from the renowned Opus One Kennels
